Friday, July 10, 2009 “CIGAR BOXES TO SYNTHESIZERS”- An exhibition of WNC Musical Instrument Makers.
The Madison County Arts Council presents an exhibition of musical instrument makers from the Western North Carolina region. The show will feature electric and acoustic instruments from a variety of makers. There will be well known instruments such as guitars and banjos, and more exotic creations such as hurdy gurdies and ring modulators. The point of the show is to give viewers a sense of the diverse nature of musical expression in the area, as reflected by the wide variety of musical instrument creators at work in the region. In addition, there will be displays of oddities and esoteric examples of musical instruments from around the world. On opening night, many of the makers will be on hand to demonstrate and explain their craftsmanship.
The opening for the show will be held on Friday, July 10th from 6-9 pm. This will be in conjunction with Marshall’s French Broad Friday art celebration. The show will take place at the Arts Center gallery, located at 90 S Main St in Downtown Marshall.
